Hi everyone!
My partner Sude and I have been working on this task for a while. Our task was to create a video introducing a word group to our target fifth-grade students. We chose these words from the coursebook they use in public schools. Here is our video. 👇
In this video, students, which are the penguins, see the experiment at home and watch the video their teacher shares with them. Then, they do experiments in the classroom. In other words, they learn the content and practice it in the classroom. Therefore, it can be said that flipping a classroom is a very student-friendly way of teaching.
However, I think one of the disadvantages is that some students are not motivated enough to watch these videos at home. For instance; my sister, an eleventh-grade student in high school, doesn't watch these videos at home. It is mostly because she isn't used to learning the content on her own. Therefore, it is important that students must be highly motivated to watch these videos.
In our experience of making our flipped video, we also have some troubles. For example; when we showed our draft to our teacher, we realized that the language we used was too hard for our target student. Thus, we examine the coursebook students use again so that we can see how much they know.
Apart from that, we enjoy doing our work. Sude filmed the video by using a barbie doll. Then she edited the first part by using an application called YouCut. And I edited the second part by using a website called Kapwing. Both of them are easy to use. We didn't have any problem using them. Besides, they don't add any watermark to your work and they are free to use! (not sponsored 😉) We also use Wordwall to create our activity. I'll certainly want to use this website in the future. Because it is easy and has different games/activities that can be used.
This was all for today. If you have anything you want to share with me, write a comment or mail me with the contact form.
Stay positive, test negative!😷
